I rec'd this grinder as a gift, and after just one use I said 'take it back'. The grinder is promoted as 'extra large capacity', but will not even grind enough beans in one shot to fill the catch holder/cup - it shuts off after 15-20 seconds (this is enough for 18 cups of coffee? maybe they like their coffee really, really weak). I could understand the quick shut off only if the motor wasn't strong enough to grind the "1/2 pound" of beans, but the label says it has a 'heavy duty' motor.My second gripe is that the catch cup material causes the coffee grounds to spill all over the counter. The material is plastic, so the coffee grounds stick to the sides and require either brushing out or tapping to clean out the cup. I suppose that's not a big deal if your grind is coarse. If you're grinding for espresso, be prepared for a a messy cleanup. The shape of the cup doesn't help the cause, as it is an elongated cube that doesn't pour easily.I wouldn't buy this grinder if Cuisinart gave me a gift card for it.
