This grinder has been a part of my morning routine for two years now. I use it on a coarse setting for my French press, so the grinding doesn't take too long - I've got my cup's worth in the press by the time the water's hot. Hand grinding is a process that starts out laborious but becomes more enjoyable as the aroma of fresh-ground coffee fills the air. I could see how it wouldn't be for everyone, but for me it's a slice of Zen in the morning.Also, the grinder is surviving me handily. I've dropped the glass, the grinder section has been dropped burr-first on a tile floor, and my kids threw a bit of gravel in with the beans one morning. The only visible damage from the abuse is a small chip out of the bottom of the burr; the grinder still works perfectly. It's definitely a sturdy piece of work.

The power went out in my area of town due to a transformer issue (or something of the sort). Almost 8 hours without electricity will bring about new resolutions. That particular morning I had whole coffee beans, and a way to boil water (gas), but no way to grind the beans, thus no coffee. After doing my homework I settled on this model. I will never go without coffee again! Now, the product: I do not use it everyday. If I did I would have serious forearm muscle development. Grinding beans for more than 1 cup will take sometime - 1. You have to grind slowly, according to the directions. 2. You just cannot grind quickly. It really is not an option. I would recommend this product to everybody you wants a good cup of coffee. If you want many cups of good coffee have an electric back-up. This grinder is good to have in your kitchen.

I wanted a non electric coffee grinder and this fits the bill. It only came with instructions written in Japanese,but it was very easy to figure out how to use. The bottom glass jar comes with a screw on lid,so if you grind too much you can just put on the top and store in the frig.
